The Malbec grape has characteristics which fall between those of the cabernet sauvignon and merlot grape with deep color and good tannin structure. You can expect flavors of anise, plum, vanilla, and cinnamon from the oak used in aging the wine.
The grape vines were first brought to California in 1858. It has seen increased popularity in recent years. The vintage is well paired with meat, pasta, lamb, and spice foods.
